Rüütliluule - Knight's Poem

We had an amusing literature assignment today. We had to write a Knight's Poem where girls are maids, queens or princesses, and boys are knights. I thought I would share my poem with you. At first I will write it in Estonian, what it was written in before, and then in English so that everyone else can understand it too.

Leonardo, (Minu rüütel valgel hobusel, my knight on a white horse :))

Ma ootan, ootan sind pärnapuu all,
kus sügisel sind esmakordselt nägin.
Sinu juuksed paitas tuul ja
päike lisas silmadesse sära.
Kuid nüüd on kätte jõudnud talv
ja sina kaugel eemal.
Sind igatsen ja ootan,
siin kauni pärnapuu all.

Ma armastan sind, jah armastan.
Miks ometi teeb see haiget?
Kas ootamisest väsida saab,
või aiman ma midagi halba?
On talv nii kõle, nii rõske
nüüd vajan, jah vajan, sinu punast põske.
Kuid oled kaugel, minu rüütel,
aga siiski olen, olen ootel.
Sinu armastust ei tunne, ei tunne ma,
ja ära, väsida ei saa.

Mu arm peab püsima lõkkel
ja kirg kuumal süttel,
et kaugele mägede taha,
on seda sullegi näha.
Et lume ta sulataks aasalt
ja sinu endaga kaasa
tooks siia pärnapuu alla,
kus me kirest pääseme valla.

Nüüd ootan sinult vastust,
nii kärsitu ma olen,
sest ilma sinu kindla sõnata,
ei saa me vahel midagi toimuda.
Tean, et olen vaid vaene õuedaam,
kes nägi sind kord pärnapuu all,
kuid tean, et tunned sama sa
ning me arm saab kirest lõkkeda!

In English:

Leonardo,

I am waiting, waiting for you under the tree,
where in the fall I first saw you.
The wind stroked your hair,
and the sun added shine to your eyes.
But now it is winter,
and you are far away,
I miss and wait for you
under this beautiful tree.

I love you, yes I love you.
Why does it still hurt?
Can you be tired of waiting
or am I assuming something bad?
The winter is so chilly and clammy,
now I need, I need your red cheek,
But you are far away, my knight,
but I am still waiting, I am waiting.
I don't feel, don't feel your love.
but I can't be, tired.

My love has to be on fire,
and passion on the hot coal
so that when you are behind the mountains far away,
you can still feel it.
So that it will melt the snow from the meadow,
and would take you with it.
To bring you here, under the tree,
where we will bloom.

Now I am waiting for your answer,
I am so impatient.
Because without your iron word,
we can't be together,
I know that I am only a poor maid,
who once saw you under the tree.
But I know you feel the same,
and our love can be set on fire.
